System Specs

Many of you have asked what type of system I’m running to do my video/graphics work. So I thought it would be a good idea of posting what my system specs are.
**WARNING – NERDY POST WITH A BUNCH OF TECHNICAL JARGON**

First of all cameras. I use a Canon t2i. This camera is beyond unbelievable for the price. It shoots full 1080p at 24 and 30 frames, with a ton of other video-nerdy options. With that I have an add-on battery grip to hold two batteries at one time. This also adds necessary weight to keep shots smooth during movement. The Lenses I use are a Canon EFs 55-250mm 4-5.6, and a Sigma 18-50mm 3.5-5.6. In my pack I also employ 4 opteka batteries and two 16 gig SanDisk Extremes (30mbs). For Audio I use an H4n coupled with an Audio Technica AT897.

For editing I use two different machines. First I use a custom built PC. An AMD Phenom II quad-core 3.4 ghz Black Edition, liquid cooled by a Corsair H50. My Motherboard is an Asus m4a79xtd evo with added on USB 3.0 PCI Express Card (for stinkin fast external drives) and 4 gigs of 1600 DDR3. My Video card is an Asus ATI 5770 with CuCore Voltage Tweaking and 1 Gig of on-board DDR5 memory. My primary boot drive is a Corsair SSD paired with a 1TB and 300GB Seagate Barracuda. I also employ a 1TB Western Digital 3.0 USB external. For a screen I use a 22″ LG 1080p LCD (honestly, not the most accurate, but it has a great response time and gets the job done!). Oh yeah, and OS – Windows 7 Professional.

Second, I use a Mac Pro (late 2007), Quad Core 2.6 ghz Intel, 3- 7200 RPM raided drives (Raid 0 configuration for fast read/write), 13 Gigs of Ram, two 20″ cinema displays, a Mackie soundboard with M-Audio Studio Monitors and Sub. I use a 2 TB G Drive (which are expensive, but I highly recommend because they are dead silent). OS – Snow Leopard.

For on the go – live environments I use a 13″ Macbook (early 2009).

Anyway, that’s the quick run down of my nerdiness when it comes to equipment. If you have any questions about the configuration or hardware, just ask away :) Hope this helps/answers any questions.
